GDST Life Privacy Notice

What is GDST Life?

GSDT Life is an online community platform for GDST alumnae and sixth formers, which opens up access to their respective networks, to connect and collaborate with each other.

The aim of this platform is to unleash the full potential of the GDST family by enabling its members to create a self-sustaining, inspirational and mutually supportive community, from sixth form onwards – for the rest of their lives.

The GDST alumnae community comprises 90,000 alumnae of which 70,000 are currently connected and involved in a wide range of activities all over the world. It is the largest alumnae community in the country, with more alumnae reconnecting with us every day.

All GDST pupils who successfully complete senior school automatically become members of our alumnae community and can participate in networking groups, or share their knowledge and experience within our schools for the benefit of current pupils and other alumnae.

GDST alumnae, along with all current GDST sixth form pupils, are invited to join our new online community via the GDST Life platform. This platform will allow users to find and connect with each other to receive regular news and gain access to a range of other opportunities such as mentoring, special interest groups, a digital library, and event listings.

GDST Life will allow you to create, customise and access a profile of personal and other information about yourself and to search for, view and interact with other users of the GDST Life platform.

How does GDST Life operate as part of the GDST?

This Privacy Notice operates alongside the GDST Privacy Notice and applies specifically to use of the GDST Life platform.

This notice is provided to help you understand how and why we collect personal information (or “data”) about users of GDST Life, and what we do with that information.

We use (or “process”) personal information in accordance with the law relating to data protection. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) outlines your rights in respect of this. Your personal information - how we collect and use it

Personal information means any information relating to you, or information that when combined with other information identifies you. Personal information includes your name, address, email address and photographs and also includes online identifiers such as internet protocol (IP) addresses, or cookie identifiers.

Your profile on the GDST Life platform is held on a database operated by Aluminati and based on personal information provided to Aluminati either by you or by the GDST. As a student or former student of the GDST, most of the information the GDST holds about you as a member of its alumnae community would have been transferred from information the GDST held about you as a student with other details provided by you directly.

In order to provide the GDST Life platform, Aluminati requires access to certain information from the GDST. The GDST provides Aluminati with, where available, the following personal information:

  • full name;
  • school and years of study;
  • preferred / current email addresses;
  • date of birth; and
  • any other information required to deliver services via the GDST Life platform or relevant to our legitimate interests.

Aluminati may collect and process additional personal information about you which you provide through your use of the GDST Life platform, for example, as you create and customise your profile.
